URS Family – Second generation

New bike is out! The second generation of URS: “l’enfant terrible” de BMC. A Gravel bike featuring a bold design, that will inspire you to go on an unrestricted adventure.

Now that all the important key words are out, I might add that we kept the iconic design language, with straight lines, kinks and dropped seat stays, making the silhouette of the bike unmistakably BMCish.

After years of developpement with a strong product team, I am glad that the bike is finally out! All the attention to detail and all the passion that we poured in was definitely worth it!

Infinity is a visual and sound installation which invites the user to enter into an infinite space. People can look through an opening and experience the echo of their own voice while seeing themselves in an infinite reflexion. The openings are positioned at different heights, allowing children and adults to interact freely inside the structure. Built out of duplicated cardboard modules linked by elastic ropes, the construction offers a maximum of effects with a minimum of means. It is efficient to produce, stackable in piles for transport, it can be quickly built in different kinds of shapes without the help of tools and is therefore inexpensive.

LIANAS at Abierto Mexicano de Diseño in Mexico City

LIANAS by ECAL/Martin Stricker
This series of supports and posts will give a speck of personality to any garden.

JARDÍN POPULAR
On the occasion of the Abierto Mexicano de Diseño in Mexico City (9 to 13 October 2019), ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne presents a collection of garden furniture and accessories in enamelled steel — popularly known in Mexico as Peltre — conceived by second-year Bachelor Industrial Design students, under the guidance of Swiss designer Francisco Torres. Popularly known in Mexico as Peltre, enamelled steel tableware can be seen on every tables, from the local street corner canteen, to the latest fashionable restaurant, Grandma’s dishes or the family picnic set. Peltre’s lightweight, smooth, durable and heat resistance surface as for many decades made it perfect for kitchenware, but other products applications are less common nowadays.
Seeing an opportunity to challenge this industry and seek new fields of applications, second-year Bachelor Industrial Design students of ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne are proposing a fresh take on garden furniture and accessories that takes full benefits of enamelled steel qualities. Being scratch resistant, weatherproof and easy to clean, the enamelled products are keeping it up against the elements. Under the guidance of Swiss designer Francisco Torres, students conceived a range of objects from a simple watering cans, sturdy solar lanterns, playful rocking toy cows, divers plant supports, basic and compact garden tools, multipurpose low tables and resounding cowbells for the backyard menagerie.
The exhibited objects where enamelled in Mexico by the skillful craftsmen of Delta Porceltech, in Polotitlán City,
Mexico.
